2020 CANADIAN BODY PAINTING CHAMPIONSHIP


It is with great pride that the Nouvelles Esthétiques Canada team is partnering with MAKE UP FOR EVER – Professionnal Paris, Primal Contact lenses, as well as Mehron Canada.   Marilyn Pellerin, Founder and Director of the ABC Academy of Make-Up is joining us as the host of the Canadian Body Painting Championship that will be held during our convention on May 3, 2020 at the Palais des Congrès de Montréal.

THE CHAMPIONSHIP

 

Taking part in the Canadian Championship – Body Painting LNE, is to push the limits of your art, to make a human canvas a true work of art that will propel you to the highest peaks of the industry.

This year we will have 2 categories of finalists: Pro and Semi-Pro.

Starting March 2nd, 2020 a jury will select the 10 Pro and 10 Semi-Pro finalists who will have the chance to compete for a place in each category on May 3rd for the grand finale of the LNE Canadian Championship – Body Painting LNE, all during the LNE Canada Congress. The jury will base their selection of finalists on the portfolios received.


Selection will be made primarily on the basis of the following evaluation criteria:

1. Respect for the theme
2. Originality of design
3. Creativity
4. Use of colours
5. Techniques / Work Ethic
6. Cleanliness of equipment, working environment and hygiene of work tools.
7. Accuracy of lines and details
8. Creativity and originality in the use of accessories
9. Balance of light and shade
10. The whole work

Scoring:

  • 1-2 Low
  • 3-4 Medium
  • 5-6 Good
  • 7-8 Very good
  • 9-10 Excellent

For the grand finale, the selected participants will have 4 hours to realise a half-body (front / back) from the head to the hips of their model WITH THE POSSIBILITY of including costume and accessories to the look.

The finalists, themselves will have to provide material and model to complete their work (no assistant IS ALLOWED).  It is the responsibility of the participants to have the legal documents concerning the use of the image of the model signed for subsequent publication, both on the web and in Les Nouvelles Esthétiques Canada magazine.  The organization will in no way be responsible for finding and / or managing the models of the selected participants.

The selected participants agree to be free of all obligations on May 3, 2020 all day long.

COMPETITION SCHEDULE

 

SUNDAY MAY 3, 2020

ARRIVAL OF THE FINALISTS: 8:30 a.m.
COSTUME BASE: 9:00 to 9:30 a.m.
SEMI-FINAL: 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
JUDGING: 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm
WALK THROUGH THE CONGRESS: 2:30 to 4:45 pm (including relaxation and lunch time)
PRESENTATION AND AWARDS IN THE CONFERENCE ROOM: 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

PRIZES

 

SEMI-PRO/AMATEURS

An amateur artist, is a person who :

  • Has a taste for an art form he/she appreciates, researches and has some knowledge of it.
  • Engages in a leisure activity, pleasure, passion, privately outside their professional framework.
  • Engages in creation or artistic performance without the aim of profiting from it.
  • Does not have any professional commitment, nor sales act, nor social and fiscal obligations.

 

1st place: $1,500 in products
2nd place: Trophy

PRO

Has received specialized training in his or her field (not necessarily in an educational institution); is recognized as such by his or her peers (artists working in the same artistic tradition); is committed to devoting more time to his or her artistic practice if his or her financial situation allows; has a history of public presentation of work.

1st place: $2,500 in products
2nd place: Trophy (goodie bag with products)

PLEASE NOTE: Selected candidates will have entry tickets to the congress included and valid for 2 days. In the event that the participant does not reach the finale, we will give them a rebate for a ticket valid on Sunday, May 3, 2020 to access the congress.  The registration amount cannot be exchanged for entry to the congress.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

 

Submit the following items before March 1, 2020:

  • Your duly completed registration form
  • A short description of your professional journey and experience
  • A high-resolution photo of yourself
  • Five photos: 1 full frontal, 1 full rear, 1 half body and 2 from your portfolio ** (format .eps, .jpeg, .pdf, 1 mg minimum)
  • Music that will enhance your artistic approach
  • Video (optional)
  • Your registration fee ($50.00 per category, non-refundable)
